Comments: Sited immediately off the campus’ main entrance, the building strategically serves as one of the four anchors that will create a green mall at the university’s gateway. The building’s circular geometry mimics the meandering drive it overlooks as well as the adjacent Administration Building, a campus architectural icon.

A companion to the existing educational complex, the facility promotes a spontaneous, continuous interplay among occupants of both structures, enhancing the quality of academic programs. Its curvature creates an exterior inner courtyard used for teaching, presentation and social interaction. All interior circulation overlooks this inner courtyard, while providing panoramic vistas of the campus.

Through the abundant use of curtainwall, the building offers an open plan and transparent facade, creating an aura of stature and presence, and integrating the public and university communities. The curtainwall extends vertically above the roof level of the building to form an illuminated “lantern,” drawing faculty, users and visitors to the building and campus. As part of the university’s rapid growth, the structure is a graceful expression of the school’s emergence into national prominence.
